Supermodel Gisele Bundchen marries footballer Tom Brady

Los Angeles, Feb 27 (DPA) Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen and American football star Tom Brady have tied the knot in an intimate California ceremony, news reports said.

The couple married Thursday in a Catholic service in Santa Monica with only close family and friends attending, according to the celebrity news site Usmagazine.com.

The bride, 28, wore a strapless ivory lace gown by Dolce and Gabbana while her three dogs wore matching floral lace collars.

There was no official confirmation from the couple's spokesmen.

Bundchen and Brady, 31, the quarterback for the New England Patriots, have been an item for the past two years, their relationship producing much material for celebrity magazines.

The three-time Superbowl champion split from his last girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan, then heavily pregnant, shortly before his relationship with Bundchen became public.

Brady, however, managed to repair his tarnished image by being a devoted dad to now-2-year-old John Edward Thomas Moynahan.

Bundchen, longtime on-off girlfriend of Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, split from the Titanic actor in 2005.

Media speculation over a possible engagement ran wild over the past months. Bundchen denied reports that Brady proposed during a trip in a private jet around Christmas.

In late 2008, the couple bought an $11 million villa in Los Angeles' upmarket Brentwood neighbourhood.

Who is Priyanka Chopra's mystery boyfriend?

Mumbai, April 25 (IANS) She has been linked with three actors - Hurman S. Baweja, Shahid Kapur and Hollywood star Gerard Butler of "300" fame - all within a span of one year, but the mystery behind Bollywood's svelte actress Priyanka Chopra's actual love interest continues.

The rumour mills started working overtime after Butler, whom she met at the launch of the Atlantis hotel in Dubai last year, was quoted as saying in a leading daily: "I don't mind getting married to an Indian girl. Too bad Priyanka already has a boyfriend".

Now, who that boyfriend is, remains to be known.

Though rumours of a romantic liaison between Shahid and Priyanka have been in the grapevine lately after their joint appearance at filmmaker Tarun Mansukhani's birthday party in Mumbai last week, neither has confirmed the development.

The two will be seen together in Vishal Bharadwaj's "Kaminay".

"Priyanka has always maintained silence on her private affairs. Till date, she has never gone public about her personal life and she will continue to do so," a source close to the actress told IANS.

Even when news of her affair with her "Love Story 2050" co-star Hurman was doing the rounds, Priyanka remained politically correct. While Hurman was very vocal about their relationship as well as their break-up, the supermodel-turned-actress chose not to speak about it.

Now, the news about the friendship between Priyanka and Butler, who is currently in Jaipur, is raising eyebrows.

But the source clarifies: "He (Butler) is in Jaipur with four of his friends as part of an India tour.

"He came to Jaipur and knew that Priyanka was shooting and staying at Shiv Vilas for her film 'What's Your Rashee?'. So he came to the sets to meet her as they are good friends and to see what an Indian film shoot looks like. He also met all important people on the sets and was also introduced to Ashutosh (Gowariker) and Hurman. Priyanka and him are just friends only," the source said.

Butler, who played the role of King Spartan in "300", has also been linked to former "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston, which he has denied.

Shabana puts on 25 kg for Gurinder Chaddha's movie

By Subhash K. Jha

Mumbai, April 25 (IANS) She had shaved her head for Deepa Mehta's "Water" though she wasn't in the final film that released, and had put on a lot of weight to look like a madame in a brothel for Shyam Benegal's "Mandi". Now veteran actress Shabana Azmi has once again put on 25 kg for Gurinder Chaddha's "It's A Wonderful Afterlife".

"Yes, you've heard right. I have put on 25 kg and I'm waddling around unrecognisable to all except those who know who I am," Shabana told IANS over phone from London.

Hugely overweight, Shabana is said to be having the time of her life playing a hysterical Punjabi woman in the movie.

In fact, those who saw Shabana at the Filmfare Awards were wondering what on earth was wrong with her. But Shabana had begun preparing for her part two months ago, tucking into those sinful calorie-enhancing goodies with a relish that only the committed actor in her could enjoy.

This is the look that she must hold in place for the next month-and-a-half. For Shabana, preparation is all.

The experience of working with Gurinder Chaddha is enriching for Shabana.

"Gurinder is in control without being bossy, which is a remarkable quality in a director," she said.

Javed Akhtar has also joined Shabana in London.

"He's here for the London Book Fair. My sister-in-law Tanvi and two of my close friends are coming this weekend. So I'm having a ball," she said.

Serie A leaders Inter Milan were knocked out of the Italian Cup on Thursday when a 1-0 semifinal second leg win over Sampdoria fell short of overturning a 3-0 deficit from the teams' first meeting.

In the May 13 final in Rome, Sampdoria will face Lazio who completed a 4-2 aggregate win over Juventus on Wednesday.

With three goals to make up, Inter coach Jose Mourinho played three strikers with Mario Balotelli, Julio Cruz and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all starting.

It was Ibrahimovic who was to score the only goal of the second leg with a superb 27th-minute volley although the Swedish international was unfortunate not have celebrated a second when he saw a 37th-minute lob come back off the post.

Sampdoria had their chances with Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini both denied by good saves from Julio Cesar.

Inter can now turn their attentions to clinching the league title.

They have a 10-point lead with just six games left to play.

Pakistan restricted

Pakistan opener Salman Butt, who hit team highest 57, goes on the front foot to play defensively during the second one-day international against Australia at the Dubai Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Australian bowlers unleashed tight line and length to fold Pakistan's innings at 207 in 46.2 overs in the second day-night one-day international here at the Dubai cricket Stadium on Friday.

Off-spinner Nathan Hauritz took 3-41, while pacemen James Hopes and Andrew Symonds chipped in with two wickets apiece as Pakistan's batsmen struggled on a slow paced pitch after captain Younis Khan won the toss and decided to bat.

Pakistan leads the five-match one-day series 1-0 following their four-wicket win in the first match on Wednesday.

Opener Salman Butt top-scored with a resolute 57 while Shahid Afridi hit a 40-ball 41 to anchor the innings after Hauritz removed the middle order with some accurate off-spin.

Butt held one end intact after Pakistan lost debutant opener Ahmed Shahzad (four) in the third over. Younis (28) helped Butt add 53 for the second wicket before edging paceman Ben Laughlin to wicketkeeper Brad Haddin.

Hauritz further derailed the Pakistan innings by dismissing Shoaib Malik (seven) and Misbahul Haq (12) in quick succession before removing a dangerous looking Butt in the 34th over.

Butt hit six boundaries during his snail-paced 112-ball knock.

Hauritz could have had a fourth wicket and blown away Pakistan for a much lower total had Ben Laughlin held on to a high catch from Afridi when the batsman was on only three.

Afridi, who was man-of-the-match for his career-best 6-38 on Wednesday, fully capitalised on the chance and hit five boundaries and a six to help Pakistan score 39 in the batting power play.

Shoaib Akhtar used the long handle effectively, hitting four boundaries and a six off to make a fiery 14-ball 25.

Australia made three changes from their Wednesday line-up, leaving out pacemen Stuart Clark and Ben Hilfenhaus, and opener Shaun Marsh. They brought in David Hussey, Doug Bollinger and Ben Laughlin.

Pakistan included Shahzad in place of injured Nasir Jamshed.
