Team for prep camp named

Tour of Windies

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday announced a 20-member provisional squad for the preparation camp for the tour of the West Indies.

Young wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Mithun was the only player to be dropped from the ICC World Twenty20 squad and Sahagir Hossain came in his place.

"Because of his [Mithun's] strike-rate we considered him in the T20 squad, but Sahagir is more experienced and has been playing good cricket for last few months," explained chief selector Rafiqul Alam.

The national players got few more days to prepare for the series as they failed to reach the Super Eights of the ICC World Twenty20 in England following heartbreaking six-wicket defeat to Ireland.

The training camp will start from June 15 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur and Bangladesh A team coach and former national skipper Khaled Mahmud will oversee the training programme in the absence of head coach Jamie Siddons who is now in Australia on leave and join the team in Caribbean.

The Tigers will leave for West Indies on June 29 to play one Twenty20, three one-day internationals and two Tests.
